Sending log information by email

  1. Open the General settings dialog.

     Click the Logging tab.

  2. Click .

  3. Select Mail log in the Log type drop-down list.

  4. Type a description that tells you what it is used for. This will be visible and selectable on the Logging tab of the ReadSoft Collector General settings dialog.

  5. Select the desired level of content in the Level drop-down list. The higher the number selected, the more information that is provided and the larger the log file is.

  6. Click Next.

  7. In the To box, specify the email address to which logs should be sent.

  8. In the From box, specify the email address from which the logs were initiated. This could be any address such as the email administrator or some other address, for example, from which the receiver of the mail can get more information about the log.

  9. In the Server box, specify the name of the computer that hosts the mail server that is to send the log.

    Note: Email log messages can only be sent out using SMTP through the default TCP/IP port (25).

  10. Type appropriate Subject line text that will allow the mail to be sorted automatically to the correct mail folder by your mail program. This text appears in the subject line of the emails that are delivered with the log text.

  11. Optional: if MAPI is used, you can add a link in the mail log directly to the mail where the error originated by selecting Integration with Microsoft Outlook for MAPI mails.

  12. Click Finish.
