Editing an object's identity settings

This procedure is similar for many objects in the program. To rename an object and provide a description for it:

  1. Using the Administration module, right-click any object and select Properties.

  2. Select General > Identity.

  3. In the Name box, type a new name for the object.

  4. In the Description box, type a description for the object. For example, explain what the object is used for.

  5. To enable/disable a field/column in a table field, open a field from the Field specification dialog: Columns settings for table fields, and select/deselect Enable.

  6. Optional: Click the link button to "break the link" with the template that the object was based on. This prevents the object from being updated when you change the template.

Warning: If you break the link, you cannot restore it.

Exceptions: A document specification is never linked to a template, though you can base a document specification on a template when you create one. A solution, on the other hand, is always linked to a template, and you cannot break that link. The button is therefore disabled.

Note: When you break an object's link to a template, the property state buttons are temporarily disabled. If you need to access them, close the dialog and reopen it.
