Creating or editing a character set

In the Form definition settings dialog, you can choose which character set and which handwriting style FORMS should expect in the current form definition.

You can edit FORMS' character sets by removing or adding some characters. For instance, it is common to add a slash (/) and currency symbols (such as £) to Other. It is also common to delete characters that never need to be interpreted on your forms.

You can also create your own character sets. The number of character sets is limited to 30.

Important

When you edit a character set, your change is valid for all forms interpreted according to that character set. If you wish to restrict the possible characters for one particular field, do this in the format specification for the field.

If you import a form definition that uses an edited character set from another installation of the program, you must first make sure to copy the edited character set to the Ehcharset.ini file of the installation you are importing to. Otherwise, settings are lost upon import and the character set must be redefined.
