Copying a field pattern

Edit ð Field ð Copy field pattern is for copying a pattern of fields to another area during the process of creating a form definition. It is particularly useful in defining series of indexed fields (for example, ten rows of mark fields). However, it can only be used for double-clickable fields, not those drawn by hand or with support lines. The keyboard shortcut is F7.

  1. First, define a set of indexed fields to be repeated (for example, the first row of mark fields). Define all the properties of the fields in the Field dialog.

  2. When that definition is complete, double-click the first field of every structure the pattern is to be copied to (for example, the first box in every row).

  3. Choose Copy field pattern to copy the field definition pattern to every row.

  4. Usually, FORMS prompts you for a field name for each row, and you can make changes in the field definitions as necessary. If the original field name ends with a number, FORMS automatically increments the number instead of prompting you for new field names.

If Copy field pattern is disabled, it may be because the form definition is Active. See Editing an active form definition.
