Interpret statistics

Using the Interpret module, select Statistics ð View or click the toolbar button to view interpretation statistics from the latest run. You can see the number of forms interpreted per form definition and the total number for all form definitions. The start, stop, and elapsed run times of the job are also displayed.

Looking at the form-level statistics, you can see the total number of processed forms, and the number of forms with form status Complete, Retype, Mass Verify, Incomplete, Validation error and Interpretation error.

Looking at the character-level statistics, you can see the total number of characters examined, the percentage of those that were interpreted (Degree), and the level of certainty for those characters that were interpreted. You can also have this information, though not broken down according to form definition, displayed on your screen during interpretation. How?

If statistics were saved automatically, a file name and path appear in the box beside Statistics saved to file.

Field-level statistics are also available from Interpret, but they are not shown in the dialog when you view statistics in Interpret. See field statistics for further information.

Statistics resulting from interpretation if image files

Character- and field-level statistics are compiled as FORMS interprets each field. They reflect all the fields that were interpreted, even if the forms were later discarded because a set or number of appendices was found to be invalid.

Form-level statistics, on the other hand, reflect only forms that were interpreted and not discarded.

This means that if you are interpreting either sets or forms with appendices, the statistics may at first glance appear to be incorrect.

For example, if a set contains four forms and all are identified except the fourth one, the set is discarded – that is, all of the image files belonging to that incomplete set are moved to the unident directory. Form-level statistics are then adjusted, but not character- or field-level statistics.
