Form status

Each form in FORMS’ form database has a form status. Form statuses are listed here in their hierarchical order, from highest status to lowest status, which is the same as saying from no error to the worst error.

In FORMS documentation, the names of statuses are capitalized and italicized.

• Transferred.

  Only forms can receive this status, not fields. It means that the form has been transferred to a target computer but not yet removed from the database.

• Identified.

  Only forms can receive this status, not fields. It means that the form has been matched to a form definition.

  Identified forms have not yet been interpreted by Interpret. However, you can still edit such forms in Verify, creating new filled-in fields by double-clicking empty ones and then manually filling in values.

• Complete.

  This status means that all the fields on the form have been interpreted and validated without error, based on the form definition you created using the Manager. Such forms normally do not require verification, which is why Complete is not selected by default. However, select this status if you want to view, edit or delete such forms. In Verify, double-click any field to edit its value.

• Incomplete.

  Forms with this status usually contain at least one field with the status Incomplete. All other fields are Complete. Exception: Even if all fields have the status Complete, the form can still be Incomplete if any condition for form complements is met.

• Retype (or Validation retype).

  Forms with this status contain at least one field with the status Retype. All other fields are either Incomplete or Complete.

• Validation error.

  Forms with this status contain at least one field with the status Validation error. The form may also contain fields with the statuses Retype, Incomplete and Complete.

• Mass verify.

  Forms with this status contain at least one field with the status Mass verify. The form may also contain fields with the statuses Validation error, Retype, Incomplete and Complete.

• Interpretation error.

  Forms with this status contain at least one field with the status Interpretation error. The form may also contain fields with the statuses Validation error, Mass verify, Retype, Incomplete and Complete.

• Unidentified.

  Only forms can receive this status, not fields. FORMS gives forms this status only if you selected Accept unidentified forms in the Identification dialog.

  Forms that Scan or Interpret has labeled Unidentified must be verified separately, even if you manually identified them in Scan. How?

  Select Unidentified, too, when you want to be able to create a new blank form for manual keying.
