Selecting forms to process

When you create a job description or open an existing one, the first thing you see is the Selection tab of the Job description dialog. The Form definitions box lists the form definitions that this job description is included in, whether they are included in a set definition, batch definition, or chosen individually.

If no form definitions are selected for the job description (that is, if the job description is new), you must choose one or more before proceeding.

Note: You cannot include batch definitions, set definitions, and individual form definitions in the same job description.

To select batches

Click Select batch def.
Select one of the batch definitions listed in the resulting dialog. You can only include one batch definition in a job description.
Click OK to confirm the selected batch definition. Its name is then displayed in the Batch definition box, just below the list of form definitions that it contains.

Important note: When creating a Verify or Transfer job description for forms or sets scanned as batches, if Release forms/sets from batches after interpretation was selected in the Batch definition dialog, you must select forms or sets to process (see below), not batches.

To select sets not in batches

Click Select set def.
Select one of the sets displayed in the resulting dialog. You can only include one set definition in a job description.
Click OK to confirm the selected set definition. Its name is then displayed in the Set definition box, just below where the form definitions are listed.

To select forms not in batches or sets

Click Select form def.
A dialog appears in which the available form definitions are listed on the left and those you select on the right. Select an available form definition. Then:
- Click Add to insert a selected form definition in the job description.
- Or select a form definition on the right side, as well, and then click Insert to add the new form definition above the one you selected on the right.
- Or click Select all to add all available form definitions.
- Delete a form definition from the job description by selecting a name from the right-hand list (by clicking its name) and clicking Delete.
- Clear deletes all the form definitions included in a job description so that you can start over.
Click OK to confirm changes in which forms are to be included in the job description.

Important

If a job description is to contain many form definitions, select and add the most common ones first. This saves processing time when you run the job.
Normally, only form definitions with the same scanner settings can be run together in the same job in Scan. (More info.)
Data from forms is transferred in the order the form definitions are listed in the job description.
