When you verify unidentified forms, the list of form definitions that you can choose from usually includes all of the form definitions included in the Verify job. Exceptions occur when no potential matches between the form and the form definitions in the job are noted during FORMS’ internal identification process, as illustrated in examples 2 and 3 below.
Example 1
Forms are being scanned, interpreted, and verified using the same job description. Since all form definitions in a Scan job must be based on the same paper size and DPI, and you are using the same job description file for Verify, each form definition in the Verify job is a potential match for the unidentified form.
Result: The list of form definitions that you can choose from includes all of the form definitions included in the Verify job.
Example 2
Forms are being scanned and interpreted using the same job description, but the Verify job description is a separate file with added form definitions. Some of these added form definitions have a different paper size and/or DPI than the ones included in the Scan/Interpret job.
Result 1: If the unidentified form has a paper size and DPI that matched any of the form definitions in the original job, then the list of form definitions that you can choose from includes only those potential matches that were previously noted by the program and included in the Verify job.
Result 2: If not (that is, if no potential matches were saved with the unidentified form during FORMS’ internal identification process), then the list of form definitions shows all of the form definitions included in the Verify job, including ones that were not included in the Scan/Interpret job.
Example 3
Forms are being imported to Interpret from image files. (Image files contain information about page size and DPI.) One of the imported forms had a size or DPI that did not match any of the form definitions included in the job. Therefore, this form is assigned Unidentified status, and no potential matches for identification are saved with the form.
Result: No matter which Verify job you use to verify the unidentified form, the list of form definitions that you can choose from includes all of the form definitions included in the Verify job.
