Business Logic activity

This activity is used to apply the specified business logic to documents (in other words, to validate the documents).

To configure business logic, use the Validation Designer. Assign business rule groups to process steps and then place a Business Logic process step before the respective Verification or Web Verification process step. (Or select Validate root document on start in the Verification step.)

If for some reason you need to add this activity to the Process Designer, the file to add is xboundActOcfBusinessLogic.dll.

The following settings are available when configuring a process step for this activity type:

Reset valid status of the fields before executing business rules	The initial valid state of a field is reset before business rules are applied. This is the default setting. Deselect this option if you want to use incoming field-status conditions instead.
Trigger validation on change of a field's valid status	When selected and the valid status of one or more fields changes, status conditions are revalidated for all fields in the document depending on existing rules.
In case of error
Continue	If selected, the process continues even if an error occurs.
Mark root document	If an error occurs, this option sets the status of the root document to ValidationError so that it can be routed by the error (using a conditional process rule, for example).
Other general settings
Import	Imports Business Logic settings from an existing XML file.
Export	Exports Business Logic settings to an XML file. Specify the file name and location. The file can then be imported to get the same process step settings.
Check regular expression	Opens a test form in which you can check a regular expression (if applicable).
