This activity merges root documents that were split by the Split Documents activity. In other words, the Merge Documents activity restores the structure of the root document to the way it was before splitting.
This activity first gathers all sub-documents that belong to the original root document at the Merge Documents process step. The tasks get the Waiting status. When the last sub-document arrives, the original root document is restored.
For a successful merger, these prerequisites must be met:
For each sub-document to be merged, there is one task with the Waiting status (or Ready for the sub-document that arrived most recently) at the Merge Documents process step.
None of the documents to be merged may be checked out at the moment of merging (which occurs when the last document belonging to the original root document arrives).
If two or more splits were made before the merger, none of the root documents created from the original root document by splitting or merging can be deleted before merging.
Note: This activity must be assigned to an Activities Service in order to run.
If for some reason you need to add this activity to the Process Designer, the file to add is xboundActDocMerger.dll.
In addition, the Agent for Document Resubmit must be configured and running. The time interval should not be too long. Thirty minutes is suggested, so that the original root document is not delayed too long after the last sub-document becomes available.
There are no settings available for this activity.
As always, the
dialog contains and buttons for importing or exporting settings from this process step. However, since this process step contains no settings, the buttons have no reasonable application.
