This topic describes one way of using templates while configuring processes.
Use the below procedure to create a template based on one or more steps of an existing process.
Any and all of the following settings are automatically included in the template:
Process rules, if selected (see below)
Exception: Process rules lacking a starting point or an ending point are excluded.
Tip: Document types can be saved as separate templates.
Design comments defined for process steps and document types (not those defined on the process level)
If the following are found, the wizard prompts you to select whether to include them:
Security settings (rights) defined for process steps and document types (not process-level security settings)
Note: Security settings are only useful when the template is used in the same system. If you export a template, import it into another system, and then use it to create a process (or part of a process) in the other system, you must then adjust the rights in that process.
Tip: You can also create a template based on an entire process. Or you can export and import process step settings without creating a template.
Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Process Designer.
Under , click the desired process.
In the area, use your mouse to draw a box around the steps to be included.
Alternatively, to exclude the process rules connecting the steps, use to multi-select the process steps.
Right-click any of the selected items and select . The dialog is displayed.
Type a name for the template.
Optional: Type a description to help you remember details. The description is displayed when you point to a template with the cursor.
Tip: To edit a description, right-click a template and select .
Select a group to save the template in.
Tip: You can create new groups and move templates between them afterward.
