Batch group

Converter: Call Convert Assistant and load the current document (single page, a page range or all pages). Add other documents and change settings as desired, before generating documents in editable formats. To convert just a page area, or only the current document without Convert Assistant, go to the Export group.

Scan Inbox: Available in Power PDF Advanced only. Manage a folder that takes image file input from one or more scanners. Incoming files are automatically converted to PDF. Go to File > Options > Automation to define the inbox folder.

Workflow: Set up, save and run command sequences to handle repetitive jobs.

Batch Controls: Available in Power PDF Advanced only. The drop-down list offers two processes:

Batch converter: Define a source folder containing a set of PDF or TIFF folders (any flavor). Define an output location and a target file type: PDF (Normal or Searchable) or TIFF (single-page or multi-page). All files of the specified type generate new files in the requested output file type.

Watched folder: Set up and enable such a folder (with or without sub-folders)  to handle all supported file types or any one of them. All incoming files are converted to PDF (Searchable or Normal) or TIFF (single- or multi-page) and sent to a destination you define.

Read Aloud group

Current Page: Read all text content on the current page using Nuance RealSpeak.

To End: Read from the start of the current page to the end of the document.

To File: all document text enters an mp3 file you can name and save. For all three commands, go to File > Options > Speech > Text to Speech to set reading voice, speed, language and more.

Recovery group and tool

Auto Recovery: Open the Auto Recovery panel to see a list of recovered files. Go to File > Options > General > Auto Save to set the frequency of auto-saving – the default is every ten minutes.

Compliance group and tool

Compliance Checker: In Power PDF Advanced, open the Compliance panel to run a check on compliance with different variants of the PDF/A standard or with accessibility criteria. From the results, click Fix to have the checker attempt to automatically solve the issue, or read Help to see how to resolve issues manually. Not all issues can be solved automatically.

Export group

Export Area: Click this, then select an area of the page to be converted to an editable format. A Save As dialog box appears; choose a file type and supply a file name. This is useful to send just one table to Excel or a small block of text to fill one PowerPoint slide.

Other converter tools: These provide export to different editable formats or other types of PDF. A page range can be given with access to some settings – but the full Convert Assistant window does not appear. To use it, go to the Batch group.

Attachments group

Attachments Panel: Open the Attachments panel along the base of the program window, in order to add or manage attachments to the current document. This panel cannot co-exist with the Comments panel.

Attach File: Attach a file to a location in the document you define. The attachment becomes a comment and can accept a note text describing the contents of the attachment. Such attachments are removed by the command Flatten Document, whereas those attached via the Attachments panel remain after flattening.

Attach sound: Attach a sound file as a comment at a location you define. The removal by Flatten Document also applies in this case.

Notes

In Power PDF Advanced, you will also see a CaseMap group, if this program is detected on your system – it is used for management of legal documents.
