Adding design comments to a process

When configuring an XBOUND process, in many cases it is useful to include descriptions or explanations of XBOUND objects in the objects themselves. The comments are saved centrally, so that others can view this information. The comments are also included when you export details of your XBOUND system to a Word file, as well as when you export a client or export a process.

You can add information in the form of comments to these objects:

The maximum size of a (zipped) comment is 10 MB.

To add a comment to an object:

  1. Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Process Designer.

  2. In the Process area, click Process Design:

  3. Right-click an object and select Design comment. (Or double-click a process rule and click Design Comment in the Edit Process Rule dialog.) The Design Comment editor is displayed.

  4. Type your comments and format them as desired. The editor contains standard formatting options. You can also:

    • Click Save as to save your comments as an RTF file.

    • Click Open to insert the contents of another RTF file into the editor.

Warning: The existing comment (if any) is deleted and cannot be retrieved.

  5. Optional: Click Picture to include images with your comments.

  6. Close the dialog by clicking X in the upper right corner. Then click Yes to confirm that the information is to be saved.

To show that a comment is available, the object's icon has a red rectangle superimposed on it. (Exception: Process rules have a pen icon added to them.)

  7. Save the process by clicking the Save button:
