Field Extraction Training window

After lassoing a field, the Field Extraction Training window is displayed so that you can configure the extraction of that field. The following settings may be displayed, depending on the item lassoed.

Selected text

This field is pre-populated with the lassoed text.

New or existing

Select whether to create a new field or to modify an existing field. (Default: New)

Name

Enter a distinctive and useful name. This is the name that is displayed to users if any user actions are configured.

Properties

Each field has several settings, depending on the lassoed content. The following lists the possible settings:

Type

Select the type of field that you are creating. (Default: Text)

There are three values for this setting:

• Text

• Date

• Number

The selected field type determines the rest of the field settings.

Bar Code type

When extracting a bar code, select the specific bar code type from the list to ensure the best extraction results. If the bar code type is known when the bar code is lassoed, the type is selected automatically.

If the bar code type is unknown, use Select All.

This setting is available only when a bar code is lassoed on the document.

Formatter

It is possible to further refine the lassoed field by applying a formatter. The available formatters depends on the selected field type. (Default: No formatter)

For example, you can refine a Number field that recognizes a total by applying the Default Amount Formatter. Similarly, you can apply the Default Date Formatter to ensure that the extracted date values are consistent after extraction.

Is mandatory

Select this setting if a value for this field is required during production. (Default: cleared)

Minimum character length

This setting is available for Text field types only.

Select to enter a minimum character length.

(Default: cleared)

Maximum character length

This setting is available for Text field types only.

Select to enter a maximum character length.

(Default: cleared)

Define allowed characters

This setting is available for Text field types only.

Select to enter a list of allowed characters. This list is literal so no separator character is necessary.

(Default: cleared)

Define restricted characters

This setting is available for Text field types only.

Select to enter a list of restricted characters. This list is literal so no separator character is necessary.

(Default: cleared)

Reference date

This setting is available for Date field types only.

Select a reference date. All dates are compared to this date to ensure that it fits within a specific time period. (Default: Today)

Period before reference date

This setting is available for Date field types only.

Select this setting to provide the number of days that a date is valid before the reference date. (Default: cleared)

Period after reference date

This setting is available for Date field types only.

Select this setting to provide the number of days that a date is valid after the reference date. (Default: cleared)
