Classes and the Class Tree
Classes are used to differentiate types of documents. These classes are configured in a parent-child hierarchy, with all child classes inheriting settings from the parent class. You can configure a single class for a specific type of document, and configure child classes to further differentiate that type of document.
Each class can contain classification setting, separation settings and extraction settings. These configuration settings help determine how a document is processed by Kofax TotalAgility.
The root class is called the "Project Class". This is a global class and any settings applied here are inherited by all other classes unless overridden. This root class is rarely configured as a valid classification result.
Before any documents can be classified, it is necessary to set up a class hierarchy that defines all of the classification categories, and new classes. Add new classes to the project as needed.
The class hierarchy in the Project Tree shows the names of all defined classes and their relationship inside the hierarchy. By default, only the class hierarchy is shown. To edit information such as fields, locators, validation methods, or classification instructions, view the class contents.
Class settings are indicated by a changed class icon. This includes a default class and a class that is not a valid classification result.
A class can be selected by left-clicking the class name in the Project Tree.
Select a class when:
-
Modifying the class properties
-
Managing the training set for the class
-
Testing the extraction for the class without performing a classification step first
Each class provides a shortcut menu that includes options for renaming, deleting, and more.
When you select a class in the Project Tree, the Details window for that class is displayed. In the window, you can set general options; activate redirection, subtree classification, document separation; or select an OCR profile for the class.
