Initialize the Content Classifier for Your Project
When you first create a project, the project no content classifier. This is true even if some classes have content classification training enabled. To use content classification, initialize the top-level content classifier.
You can initialize the content classifier so that you can use content classification in your project by following these steps:
- On the Project tab, in the Configuration group, select Project Settings .
- Click the Classification tab to view the classification settings.

In the
Content Classification group, a
Content Classifier value.
In most cases, use the Adaptive Feature Classifier value. Use the Text Classifier value only if you are working on an upgraded project that uses this classification method, or you need to use an old Text Classifier from an old project.

Click the
Content Classifier
Properties button.
The Adaptive Feature Classifier Properties window is displayed.
- Optionally, configure the AFC content classification settings.

Click
OK to save your changes
and close the
Adaptive Feature Classifier Properties window.
The window closes, the AFC content classifier is initialized, and the Reset button is enabled.
- Optionally, click OK to close the Project Settings window.
- Optionally, add training documents to the Classification Set.

If separation
is configured for your project, from the
Process tab on the Ribbon, in the
Train group, click
Separation &
Classification. If separation is not configured, click
Classification
instead.
The documents in your Classification Set are trained using the newly initialized AFC content classifier.
- Save the changes to your project.
- Optionally, test your classification settings.
