Delegate activities

To handle sick time or vacations, use the Delegation feature to allocate new activities from one resource to another for a specified time period.

Delegating an activity differs from reassigning an activity. When delegating, the activities appear on the work queue for both resources.

  1. On the Resources menu, click Delegation.

    The Delegation page appears and shows activities delegated to resources for whom you are responsible.

  2. On the Delegate From list, select the resource with activities to delegate.
  3. On the Delegate To list, select the resource to whom to delegate activities.

    You can delegate activities from a user to a group, but not from a group to a user. Only the activities assigned to the delegator are available in the delegatee's work queue. For example, an activity is assigned to Group A and User 1 is a member of Group A. When User1 delegates work to User 2, only the activities assigned to User1 (individual resource) and not the ones assigned to Group A will be available in User2's work queue even if User 1 is a member of Group A.

  4. Select the Use End Date check box and specify a date when the delegation ends.
  5. Click Create.

    The Delegation page is updated to include the new delegation.

    • To remove the delegation, select the row and click Remove .

    • To update a delegation, select a delegation from the list, modify the details, and click Update.

    • To clear the delegation, click Reset.
