General Settings Tab

Use this tab to specify an export working folder to temporarily store exported images, whether to skip the first page of each document, and to set preferences for the repository document ID.

Export working folder

Specify an export working folder to be used to temporarily store exported images. Click Browse to select an existing folder or create a new one in the Browse for Folder window.

Note You should specify an export working folder that is writable by all users.

Specify an existing folder or create a new one. To begin specifying a folder, click the Browse button to open the Browse For Folder window.

  • To specify an existing folder, navigate to a folder location and select it.

  • To create a new folder, click Make New Folder and enter a name.

If the export working folder has been deleted and you load the export connector, a message displays, requesting that you specify a location.

At export, if you specified an export working folder other than the default, documents are exported here:

<specified export working folder>

If the export working folder has been deleted and you run the export connector, it is automatically created.

After the file transfer is complete, all temporary files and folders are automatically deleted from the export folder.

Skip first page of each document

If you are using standalone document separator sheets, you may want to discard the first page of each document. To do so, select this setting. For more information, see Skip first page behavior.

Note With Kofax Capture, if you export only one image in a document and you select the Skip first page of each document setting, export fails and the document is routed to the Quality Control module.
Make documents text-searchable

Select this check box to enable the text-searchable feature for images and eDocuments. To take advantage of this feature, the IBM Net Search Extender (NSE) must be installed.

When selected, this option allows Content Manager to perform text searches on the following image formats: Excel, HTML, PDF, Text, Word, or XML. See the IBM Content Manager Enterprise documentation for details about setting up item type parts using the NSE.

  • To export OCR full text files based on this option, the selected item type must contain the ICMBASE and ICMBASETEXT parts. The item type should be set to text searchable. To export OCR full text files as part of the image, a semantic type named KofaxOCR must be created on the Content Manager server.

  • To export PDF documents based on this option, the selected item type must contain the ICMBASETEXT parts. The item type should be set to text searchable and contain the ICMfetchFilter.

Search entire repository for first folder

Select this option to search the entire repository for the first folder, regardless of its location in Content Manager.

  • When selected, the export connector searches the entire IBM Content Manager Enterprise repository for the first folder in the folder hierarchy, as defined on the Folder Settings tab. If a match is found, the first folder is used to find the subfolders (if any).

  • When not selected, only the root level of the IBM Content Manager Enterprise repository is searched for the first folder in the folder hierarchy, as defined in the Folder Settings tab. If a match is found, then the first folder is used to find the subfolders (if any).

Make folder search case-sensitive

When selected, Content Manager considers case sensitivity when searching the repository for a folder name.

If you clear this option, the overall export performance may be adversely affected.

Multi-value separator (applicable to child component attributes and dynamic processes)

This export connector supports properties that contain multiple values. Specify the desired delimiter to separate the values when entering multiple values for the child component attributes, dynamic processes, and dynamic priorities. Note that:

  • Use only valid printable ASCII characters. The multi-value separator cannot contain the following characters: Carriage return, Escape, New line, Space, or Tab.

  • The default separator is the semicolon (;) character.

  • You can enter up to two characters to use as the delimiter.

The multi-value separator should not be part of the value. For example, if you specify a period (.) as one of your values and also specify the period as the multi-value separator, the export connector assumes the value is the separator.

OCR Full Text

Specify how the OCR full text files are stored in the IBM Content Manager system. To export OCR full text files, you must enable Kofax Capture OCR full text processing in the applicable document class and add the OCR Full Text queue to the applicable batch class. You can select from the following OCR full text options:

None

Select this option if you do not want to export OCR full text files with documents. With this option, only images and any eDocuments contained in the documents are exported.

If the OCR Full Text module is specified for the batch class / document class, a warning appears when you attempt to save the export setup settings.

Note To export based on this option, the selected item type must contain the ICMBASE part as a minimum.
Export OCR as part of the image (image stored as base)

Select this option to export OCR full text files as additional parts of documents.

Once exported, the images and any eDocuments contained in the document are visible in the Content Manager Windows client. However, the OCR files are not visible, even though they are still part of the exported document. You can perform full text searches on the OCR files by using an item type that is set to text searchable. To take advantage of this feature, NSE must be installed.

Note To export based on this option, the selected item type must contain the ICMBASE and ICMBASETEXT parts. The item type should be set to text searchable. In addition, to export OCR full text files as part of the image, a semantic type name KofaxOCR must be created on the Content Manager server.

See the IBM Content Manager Enterprise documentation for details about setting up item type parts using the NSE and creating semantic types on the Content Manager server.

Export OCR as base (image discarded)

Select this option to export OCR full text files to IBM Content Manager as base parts, and discard the associated images. Any eDocuments contained within the document are exported as part of the document.

The exported OCR full text file contains all of the item type / attribute information specified for the image. Additionally, the document can be text searchable through NSE (if NSE is installed).

Note To export based on this option, the selected item type must contain the ICMBASE and ICMBASETEXT parts. The item type should be set to text searchable. In addition, to export OCR full text files, a semantic type named KofaxOCR must be created on the Content Manager server.
