Recognition Engines

Recognition engines are responsible for performing optical character recognition (OCR) on documents for classification and extraction purposes.

Installing Kofax TotalAgility installs the following recognition engines automatically:

Customizing the Kofax TotalAgility installation enables installing the following recognition engines that are licensed separately:

  • The Cursive Page Recognition engine developed by A2iA

  • Arabic OCR technology iDRS 14.1 by Image Recognition Integrated Systems S.A., I.R.I.S. S.A. that supports Arabic with embedded English and French characters

Important Although the KADMOS 4.2 recognition engine is available for new recognition profiles, the best practice is to use one of the other recognition engines. This is because the KADMOS recognition engine is no longer available in later versions of Kofax TotalAgility.

See the Kofax TotalAgility - Installation Guide for more information about installing these recognition engines.

ABBYY FineReader 11.1 R8 additionally supports the recognition of Chinese, Japanese and Korean (CJK).

Note In order to make full use of the CJK languages, you must install the required Asian Languages on your operating system.
