You can use this window to set the properties for FineReader full text OCR profile.

Language

This group enables you to select one or more languages. You can combine any languages. Only the English language is selected by default.

Dictionary

This group enables you to click Browse, navigate to, and select a dictionary to help with recognition. The value for this option is set to <None> by default.

General Settings

This group has the following options:

Correct skew

Select this option if you want the recognition engine can automatically correct an image if it is skewed within a rotation of +/- 5 degrees. This option is selected by default.

Remove background

Select this option to remove background objects and shading from the image. This option is cleared by default.

Comprehensive orientation detection

Select this option to perform thorough checks to evaluate whether a page needs to be rotated or not before or during classification. This option is cleared by default.

Note Selecting this option can increase the time it takes to perform recognition. As a result, the best practice is to use this option only when processing documents whose orientation is not adequately corrected with Rotation during runtime.

Word separation characters

Use this field to define what characters may separate words. The value for this option is set to /:()-# (forward slash, colon, open and close parentheses, hyphen, pound) by default.

Recognition Mode

Select the type of recognition mode from the following values:

• Fast mode.

  Select this option if you want to increase the speed of recognition over accuracy.

  Important If you select this option, the increased speed of recognition may decrease the quality of the results.

  This is the default value for this option.

• Balanced mode.

  Select this option if you want to balance the speed an accuracy of recognition.

• Full mode.

  Select this option if you want to increase the accuracy of recognition over speed.

  Note If you select this option, recognition will take longer.

Printer Type

This group helps improve recognition results by selecting the print type that is expected. Choose one or more of the following:

Normal

Select this value if there is text on the documents that is machine printed. This option is selected by default.

Typewriter

Select this value if there is text on the documents that is type written or using a similar font. This option is selected by default.

Matrix

Select this value if there is text on the documents printed with a dot matrix printer. This option is selected by default.

Receipt

Select this value if you are processing sales receipts, invoices, or similar documents. This option is cleared by default.

Handprint

Select this value if there is hand written text on the documents.This option is cleared by default.

Writing style

If the Handprint type is selected, select the language that the hand written text uses. The value for this option is set to Default by default.

Note This Writing style selection applies only to handwritten characters. All the other character types make use of the language selected in the Languages list.
