Use Copilot
You can use Copilot similarly as you use
ChatGPT in your browser.
The interactive
Copilot
panel contains a Start typing box for your prompts,
offers quick commands, and displays the answers.
-
Open a document to work with, then click
Copilot on the
Home tab of the Ribbon.
The Chat with Copilot panel opens on the right, greeting the user and parsing the content of the active document.
-
If the error message below appears on the panel, click
Go to Options and set up the AI service before use. See
Prepare Copilot for details.
The Key setting is empty. Please check Copilot options and try again.
-
Once the parsing process is complete,
Copilot offers a set of commands tailored to the document's
contents. These suggestions can assist you in reviewing and editing the contents of the document. The following quick commands are
always present:
- Translate
- Use this command to translate the contents of the document into another language. By default, the target language is English. Click on the arrow on the right side of the command to select a different target language.
- Summarize
- Use this command to receive a quick summary of the document's contents.
- AI Redaction
- Use this command to search the document for confidential data which you may want to
redact, such as names or bank account numbers. After the search,
you can review the results or mark the document for redaction.
See Document repositories for more
information. It is possible that Copilot does not identify every instance of confidential data correctly. Because of that, it is important to always double-check the search results.
If the document contains no text, selecting the Translate or Summarize commands results in a "No text found in the document." message in the chat.
- To give custom prompts, use the Start typing box at the bottom. Use clear, natural language, as if talking to a colleague. Hit Enter or click Send Question on the right when you completed the prompt.
-
To change the scope of the answers, select Change Question
Range (
) left to the Start typing box and select one of
the following options.
- Current Document: Copilot bases its answers on the contents of the active document. This is the default setting.
- All Open Documents: Copilot bases its answers on all currently open documents. This option does not include documents that are open as part of a document repository. See Document repositories for more information.
- Web Search: Copilot bases the answers on the internet, more precisely, the web content parsed by the connected OpenAI service. This option is available depending on the selected OpenAI model. For more information, see Copilot options.
- In answers based on the document, click the inline citation numbers to display the corresponding section.
-
To use the resulting text, do one of the following:
- Click Copy at the bottom-right of the answer to copy the text into the clipboard.
- Click the down arrow next to the Copy icon, then select Copy to note to add the text as a note.
-
To reset the panel to its initial state, select
Clear History from the context menu. This operation does not alter the selected scope.
Right-click on the panel background, prompts, or answers to open the context menu with the relevant items.
