Defining a selection field

Selection fields usually contain more than one object. Other field types can also occur in a series. However, because of the way FORMS needs to look for circles around selection fields, you need to show FORMS the entire area containing a series, rather than each individual item. You specify the individual fields (objects) in the Field dialog instead of the Manager’s main window. The steps are explained here.

  1. Draw one frame around a group of objects in a series. Draw the frame so that there is plenty of space between the objects and the edge of the frame. Example:

    images\circlemarksdraw.gif

  2. Press F5 and choose Selection as the field type in the Field dialog. The format of the Standard tab changes.

  3. In the Current object group box, type a name for the subfields in the selection group. This name, plus an index number, applies to each object inside the frame that you drew, in the same way that a name and index number applies to each mark field in a series. This is the name that is used during verification and in the transaction description.

  4. FORMS has automatically found markable objects, and these are displayed in frames. If you are satisfied with the objects FORMS found, go to the next step now. If not:

  5. Then specify the format and any options that apply.

  6. Specify any advanced options and validation routines that apply:
