In production, scanner performance is roughly between 50% and 70% of the theoretical scanner speed listed for your scanner in its product documentation. Is your scanner reading forms as fast as it should? You can test it.
If scanner performance is lower than expected, consider the following suggestions:
Try a faster PC with more memory, especially if you are scanning two-sided or rotated forms.
Do not unnecessarily identify rotated or upside-down forms.
Consider scanning portrait-oriented forms in landscape position and then rotating them. More info.
Make sure you are using the most suitable storage option.
If you are using a Kofax card (and any scanner), you can specify the extent to which double buffering is used.
If you are using FORMS’ option, consider turning it off. Using this option slows scanning to approximately one-half its normal speed. If your scanner supports , use that option instead, since scanner performance is not affected.
If you are scanning forms in grayscale or color, consider whether you actually profit from this. Black and white scanning is faster.
If the scanner hesitates periodically, this is most likely a network problem, rather than a problem with the scanner or FORMS’ Scan module.
If you are exporting image files, try saving the files to a different server. Store them locally only if you are not verifying forms from image files.
