Options

Max. number of suggestions

The number of alternatives to display for misspelled words.

Note: Specifying a high number will slow down Verification.

Type of suggestions

Hashing – Uses the default algorithm.

Phonetic – Suggests words based on pronunciation.

Ignore ALL CAPS

Do not spell-check words written in all capital (uppercase) letters.

Ignore mixed case

Mixed-case words (words written in both uppercase and lowercase letters, such as "tHiS") are not flagged solely for that reason. They are only flagged if there is another reason to flag them (such as "AdFg" or "WrongSpelling").

Allow case insensitive suggestions

The case (uppercase vs. lowercase letters) of the word being checked is not considered when fetching spelling suggestions.

Ignore words with digits

Words containing numbers are not spell-checked. For example, "W3lt" is ignored.

Ignore XML/HTML tags in the text

Use this option only when verifying documents containing XML or HTML tags. When you select this option, text inside the brackets ("<" and ">") are not checked for spelling errors. ClosedExample:

Look up whole hyphenated word in the dictionary

When a word contains a hyphen (-), look up the entire hyphenated word in the dictionary. For example, if "maal-box" is found, the entire word is searched for and "mailbox" may be suggested. Otherwise, only suggestions for "maal" are suggested.

Ignore compound words

Ignores compounds that consist of two valid word parts. For example, "Helloworld" and "Twolips" would not result in spelling errors. This is essential for languages such as German, in which two words are often combined to form a compound word.

Suggest split words when a compound consists of two correctly spelled words

If a compound word is considered misspelled, but it consists of two correctly spelled words, two separate words may be suggested as an alternative. For example, "myhouse" results in "my house" as a suggestion, and "helloworld" results in "hello world".

Note: The compound is flagged as misspelled regardless of this setting. The setting only affects whether two words can be suggested to replace one.

Min. subword length

Works with the above setting. Parts of the compound that are shorter than the length you specify here will not result in any suggestions from the dictionary.

For example, if Min. subword length is greater than 2, "my house" is not suggested as an alternative for "myhouse".

Include words from user dictionary in suggestions

Possible matches from the user dictionary on your computer are also displayed.

By default, user dictionaries are added automatically for each language in the C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\ReadSoft\xbound folder. However, this path can be changed (see User dictionary path above).
