Security Manager plug-in

General Security Settings

Under General Security Settings, you define groups of one or more specific computers where protected documents can be displayed and/or processed. This is described in Limiting access to documents.

Privilege Manager

The Privilege Manager is used to manage privileges and privilege definitions. You can:

The Privilege Manager consists of a toolbar and a work area.

Change View

Toggles between the Privilege Manager's two views:

  • In the Standard View, the privilege definitions are displayed on the left side and the assigned privileges are displayed on the right side together with the XBOUND objects for which the privileges were assigned.

  • In the Reversed View, the XBOUND objects are displayed on the left side and the privileges are displayed on the right side.

Refresh

Refreshes the display of the Privilege Manager.

Specify scope

Opens the Specify Scope dialog, where you can select XBOUND objects for which the selected privilege is to be assigned. This button is visible only in the Standard View.

New Privilege Definition

Creates a new privilege definition. This button is visible only in the Standard View.

New Sub-Privilege Definition

Creates a new sub-privilege definition. This button is visible only in the Standard View.

Edit Privilege Definition

Changes a privilege definition. This button is visible only in the Standard View.

Delete Privilege Definition

Deletes a privilege definition. This button is visible only in the Standard View.

Export Privilege Definitions

Exports a selection of privilege definitions or all of them into an XML file.

Import Privilege Definitions

Imports privilege definitions from an XML file. See Exporting and importing privilege definitions.

Delete All Privileges

Deletes all assigned privileges for all privilege definitions.

Security Wizard

Starts the Security Wizard, which assists you in setting up role-based privileges.

The work area consists of two panes; which two panes are displayed depends on the selected view (Standard or Reversed). To toggle between the two views, click the Change View button ().

Select the privilege definition for which you want to assign privileges or perform other actions.

XBOUND Objects – Access Control List

(Standard View)

Displays the privileges (depending on the XBOUND object) for the privilege definition select on the left. Click the button in the Reset or Change column to reset or change the privilege.

(Reversed View)

Select the XBOUND object for which you want to assign privileges.

Displays, in hierarchical order, the privileges assigned to the XBOUND object that is selected in the XBOUND Objects pane. Click the button in the Reset or Change column to reset or change the privilege.

The file name of this plug-in (in case you need to add it to the XBOUND Management Center, for example) is xboundPlugInSecurityManager.dll.
