Retrieving log messages

After you create a log view, you can retrieve log messages.

Note: You must set up logging before any log messages can be displayed. Use the Log Explorer to view log messages that were saved to the logging database, as well as audit trail messages. Messages saved to the file system or Windows Event Log are viewed using external programs.

Tip: Log messages can also be viewed on mobile devices using ReadSoft's "Monitoring" application. ClosedMore information:

With the Monitoring app you can narrow down log messages by log level or by process and process step. You can also list documents by task status and view individual documents.

Windows 8.1 is required. For more information see XBOUND Installation Guide or the Microsoft app web page.

Use this procedure to retrieve log messages

Note that you must repeat this procedure every time you open the Log Explorer.

  1. Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Log Explorer.

  2. Under View Explorer, open a log view by clicking its button.

  3. Optional: If only messages in a certain context matter to you, you can filter them:

    • To filter messages by certain clients, processes, or process steps, click the Client / Process tab in the Filter area and select the desired objects.

    • To display only messages about events on certain computers, click the Computer tab. You can hide events of certain servers, and you can decide if you want to see messages about the rest of the computers.

If you use both filtering options in parallel, the displayed messages meet all of the selected criteria.

  4. Click the link that says click here to retrieve log entries.

Tip: You can access the log views that you have used recently under Last used.
