Known issues
This topic describes the issue that you may encounter while using Kofax Communication Server 10.5.0 and provides a workaround, as applicable.
1954035: An error message similar to the following is displayed when you install Kofax Communication Server Client Applications:
"Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package."
Workaround: Do any one of the following:
- While installing Kofax Communication Server Client Applications, ensure that TC Fax Printer is not selected on the Select Features screen.
- Install any version of Microsoft Visual Studio C++ Redistributable for x64 architecture between 2015 to 2022 and then proceed with the installation. It can be downloaded from the following link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170
1326792: Voice greetings and schedules are not displayed correctly in the TC/management console.
1253081: TCfW: You cannot apply the filter settings in the archive.
1117168: TC/LINK-MX7: You cannot resolve the rfc822 section of the message in the Winmail.dat file.
1079028: In KFXConverter, Aspose cannot convert a PDF with missing fonts.
919102: In TCfW, authentication fails on the client machine when you use the TCOSS Server credentials.
877177: MS Office creates a 204 dpi TIF file while converting an Excel file.
865020: The characters such as Epsilon and Theta in a message are not converted correctly and are treated as ASCII characters in TCLINK.
863255: TWS does not ignore the extensions listed in the exception list and reports documentation errors.
841608: Sometimes, you cannot restore a user's backup data.
831051: TCLINK notifications display the send time incorrectly.
761327: You can add only one server to the WellKnownServer registry key.
746879: Autologon does not work with the Firefox browser on Windows 2012 R2 if TCOSS is installed on a different computer.
700923: The message status is shown incorrectly as Completed instead of Send Attempt in TCfW.
700578: The Logout button does not work appropriately when Windows authentication is used in KCS Portal.
682824: In TC/SOAP, debugging fails as the TCPDebug generator misses one character at the end of each data block.
675987: Sometimes, TC/LINK-MQ fails when you try to get the MQ Expiry Report.
656167: The FollowMe printing feature might not work correctly if you upgrade the TCfW Client from 5.3 to 5.4.
651212: When MQ Client version 8 is installed and not running on a Windows platform, TC/LINK-MQ displays the "Unsupported Server Platform" error.
646880: The receiving time of a voicemail is recorded incorrectly when TCOSS is configured to UTC.
641212: Fax preview does not display RTF cover if TC/WEB and Kofax Communication Server are installed on different computers.
631268: KFXConverter fails using MS Office fonts.
625437: The attachment file name is included in the message body when you send an SMTP message to Lotus Notes via TC/LINK-LN.
624776: After the TCfW update from 10.0 to 10.0.1, some error pop-ups may appear after logging into TCOSS.
Workaround: Cancel all the error messages. TCfW will start normally.
622168: Kofax Communication Server setup did not include fonts for Japanese Postscript files.
619881: TCIMG32.DLL fails while processing a corrupt TIFF file.
592625: In TCfW, the field labels are distorted if the MS UI Gothic font is used in the Japanese profile.
568611: The cursor position changes unexpectedly when you enter Japanese characters in the Memo dialog in TCfW.
565696: You cannot convert the PDF documents containing XFA forms using Monitor TCOSS WebServices.
563412: In TCfW, the font type and font size settings are not applied consistently when you change the settings from .
563338: The scroll bar does not work when you try to set filters in TCfW, and the "Insufficient Rights" error is displayed.
557087: An empty page is generated when you try to convert an .MHT attachment that contains "#" in the filename.
548746: TCfW fails when you export user details of bulk users, such as 78000 users.
587573: In Japanese TCfW, some Japanese characters are replaced with question marks in all the fields.
435356: An XT error (no response received) occurs while sending a fax message if LS1 considers the DIS signal as a reattempt to send the fax message.
352720: The page up and page down hotkeys do not work with the Allow direct addressing in advanced Distribution mode option while configuring the Advanced Distribution Mode in TCfW.
343016: Document conversion fails due to JavaScript when the Datalogics PDF engine is used.
320628, SPR00122502: In TCfW, the image preview is always aligned to the left. The text blocks that have right-to-left order activated, correctly align to the right side in text mode. However, the image preview displays the text blocks align to the left.
320536, SPR00176327: In TCfW Communication Server Client, erratic results are produced while using the mouse wheel to scrollthrough the inbox or outbox.
Workaround: Use the scroll bar or keyboard for scrolling.
320488, SPR00120108: Opening RTF attachments in TCfW sometimes fails with the "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" error. Another attempt to open the attachment succeeds without any errors.
Workaround: Do not use Microsoft OLE control for displaying and editing attachments. Add the extension RTF to the following registry value:
HKxx\SOFTWARE\TOPCALL\TCFW\WorkStation \ShellExecuteExtensions.
320366, SPR00176265: Closing the TCfW Communication Server Client from the taskbar while the application window is minimized can last multiple seconds.
Workaround: Close TCfW while its window is displayed to avoid the delay.
319699: TC/Web does not display the message count if you filter messages with the status "New and Read".
318605, SPR00121081: When using TWS or TC/LINK document conversion for Word or Excel documents with Unicode characters, the text alternative is not Unicode.
318364, SPR00113538: In EasyConfig, if non-English characters, such as Japanese symbols, are used, it is possible to configure longer service names than supported (a maximum of 8 bytes).
Japanese symbols require up to 3 bytes per symbol, therefore, only 2 symbols are possible.
318295, SPR00104109: If you upgrade an older Kofax Communication Server deployed via EasyConfig to the latest release, you must start the KCS EasyConfig tool and redeploy the configuration.
- Upgrade to the latest Kofax Communication Server release by starting EasySetup.exe from the installation ISO.
- Start the KCS EasyConfig tool from the Kofax Communication Server program group on the Windows Start menu. EasyConfig informs you that the current configuration has been modified.
- Click Deploy.
- Select to deploy All and click OK. Wait until the configuration is updated.
- Perform the actions listed in the deployment log. For example, you might need to restart certain Kofax Communication Server components.
- Click Close.
In TCfW Communication Server Client installed on Windows 8, by default, the PDF attachments are opened with the built-in PDF viewer. Closing the PDF document does not close the OLE link of the message.
Workaround: Use an external PDF viewer, not the built-in one.
