What's new
This topic describes the features and enhancements included in Kofax Communication Server 10.5.0.
KCS Portal
This topic summarizes the enhancements to KCS Portal.
Message authorization
You can configure KCS Portal to authorize a message that is sent using a restricted service before it is sent to the recipient. You can enable an authorizer so that when a user sends a message using a restricted service, the message is first sent to the authorizer and then sent to the recipient once the authorizer authorizes it.
Message screen improvements
The following enhancements are made:
- You can switch between image view and text view using the Image View button.
- You can include a text box, attachment, page break, or signature mark using the Insert drop-down menu.
-
You can reorder the message blocks (text box, attachment, page break, and signature mark) in the message.
Preview pane
You can preview a message without opening it using the Preview pane. From the Preview pane, you can upload attachments, configure send options, and send the message. You can drag the Preview pane from the bottom or right side of the message folder window.
Recurrence
The Recurrence option has been added to the Send Options in the Message window displayed while composing a message. You can configure Recurrence to send a message periodically, such as weekly or daily.
Default fax and email service
You can select the Default Fax Service and Default Email Service for a user.
The default fax service is used when sending a message to a fax address, and the default email service is used when sending a message to an email address. If default services are not selected, the global default is used from the configuration file.
Mark a message as read or unread
You can mark a read message as unread, and an unread message as read in the Inbox folder.
Time zone
An option to select a time zone for a user has been added to the General tab in the user profile. The timestamp displayed in the user folders like inbox and outbox depends on the time zone selected. Irrespective of the system time, the timestamp displayed in the messages is automatically converted to the time zone set in the user profile.
Resend message
You can resend a message or multiple messages from the outbox.
Disk Usage
The Disk Usage feature has been enhanced with information about the memory used by user profiles and recipients.
Alerting
You can enable Alerting to get alerts related to the KCS server, such as when the number of messages in a queue exceeds a configurable limit.
Number Series
The inbound and outbound messages are numbered in series by the KCS server. You can have 26 number series from A to Z. For example, all the inbound fax messages can be numbered from TF0001 to TF9999. The series starts again after the last value, TF9999. You can access this feature in KCS Portal from .
Login screen
The login screen has been enhanced.
Memo
You can use the Memo feature to add information related to a message in the Inbox or Outbox folders.
From/To filter
You can now enter the "From" or "To" part of the From/To related filter criteria separately (Earlier, both From and To had to be specified simultaneously).
User profile
While creating or editing a user, you can click the Save & Close button to save the user details and return to the Users list. Also, after editing a user, the edited user is selected once you return to the Users list.
FoIP crypto suite
Kofax Communication Server FoIP now supports AES-256 along with the existing support for AES-128.
Case insensitive
The parameters in the KFXConverter.ini file support both upper and lower case.
Installation logs
When you run the KCS Setup.exe from the ISO image, the setup log is saved to the C:\KOFAX_KCS_SETUP.LOG file. If the file already exists, the new log data is appended to the existing log without overwriting it.
TC/LINK
This topic summarizes the enhancements to TCLINK applications:
Outbound SMTP
The following additional authentication options have been added to TC/LINK-SM, TC/LINK-MX7, and TC/Link-OC with the existing support for basic authentication with a configured user or password for outbound SMTP connections to Microsoft 365 and other mail servers that require SMTP authentication:
-
Basic authentication with a variable user and password via Link Exit DLL
-
OAuth 2.0 authentication
Shared queue
TC/LINK-MQ supports multiple queue managers using shared queues.
Timeout value
A new timeout registry key, TimeoutForAttachment, has been added to configure the timeout value for retries to read a linked attachment file while parsing the TCLINK-FI transaction file.
Documentation
The information about SMTP Authentication has been improved in TCLINK-SM / TCLINK-OC Technical Manual with an explanation of SMTP types, such as Inbound and Outbound.
