Upgrading databases

If you are performing an upgrade, the Database Utility appears after Kofax Front Office Server 4.3.0 installation with fields to upgrade the database.

The upgrade retains the same type of database. A Microsoft SQL Server database is updated to use the new version of Kofax Front Office Server. If you want to change database types, such as switching to Oracle RAC, you can run the Database Utility alone after installation to migrate data. See Migrating databases for instructions.

If you are using command-line parameters or an .ini file as part of an installation, some of these values may be filled in. See the Kofax Front Office Server Installation Guide for more information.

The Database Utility appears after the installation has finished. The window is similar to when you perform a new installation, except that the label Target Database Type appears, and the type of database is selected. Do the following:

  1. Enter connection and authentication information for the database. For a Standard database, no fields appear. For the following types of databases, enter the connection and authentication information for the new database:
  2. Click Apply.

The database is upgraded to the new version of Kofax Front Office Server. When the upgrade is finished, the Database Utility is closed.
