Creating a form

Forms specify how Verification (or Web Verification) works and what it looks like when you are verifying a specific document type. You need one "form" for each document type. Forms contain panels, which in turn contain controls.

There are different types of forms: one type for the Verification client and another (web forms) for the Web Verification client. Web forms are more limited. They have fewer options and cannot be customized as freely.

Use this procedure to create a form:

  1. Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Validation Designer. (For information about working with consoles, see XBOUND Help.)
  2. Under Process Navigation, select a process.
  3. Click the Check out button ().

  4. Select File > New > Form.

  5. In the Create form dialog, specify a name for the form.

  6. Select the document type that the form is being created for. (Without a document type, the form cannot be saved and checked in.)

  7. Select the process step(s) that the form is to be used for. This "activates" the form. (Without a process step, the form is not used during Verification.) The available process steps depend on the Web form option.

Tip: You can also do this separately in the Assign process steps dialog – see Assigning a form to a process step.

  8. Optional: Adjust the font. The font settings apply to all controls in the form that do not have a specified font.

  9. Now there are several ways to proceed:

    • Generate a form automatically:

      1. Optional: On the Design tab you specify the content and appearance of the form. (More information.)

      2. Click OK to apply the settings and generate the form automatically.

Tip: Even if the form is generated automatically, you can still adjust it further in the Design pane (see below).

By default, one "viewer" panel (enabling the Verification user to inspect the document) and one "form" panel (for verifying the extracted ) are generated. These are displayed on separate tabs in the work area. To see them together, click Test.

    • Design the form yourself, from scratch:

      1. Deselect Generate form. (A form will still be available, but with an empty panel.)

      2. Click OK to apply the settings.

      3. An empty default panel is displayed in the Design pane of the work area for forms. Add the desired controls to the panel. You can also add extra panels with their own controls. See instructions:

    • Generate a web form for use with Web Verification.

      1. Select Web form.

      2. On the Design tab, specify what to include on the form and how it will look. (More information.)

      3. Click OK to apply the settings and generate the form automatically.

Optionally, you can now do the following (not for web forms):

After you configure the form, it is recommended that you test it.

Tip: Get an overview of forms and their process step assignment in the Assign process steps dialog.
