Interpretation of Greek characters

Although Greek is available as a character set to be interpreted, there are differences in the way you must handle it compared to other languages.

Before interpretation of Greek characters

  1. Use a text editor to open Ehcharset.ini.

  2. At the beginning of the file there are two occurrences of [General]. Remove the semicolon that precedes the second one, and put a semicolon before the first one, like this:

    Before

    After

    [General]
    Charsets=English;Swedish;...

    ;[General]
    Charsets=Greek;

    ;[General]
    Charsets=English;Swedish;...

    [General]
    Charsets=Greek;

  3. Edit the character set, if you wish.

  4. Save and close the file.

  5. Use a text editor to open Ehglobal.ini.

  6. In the [Interpret] section, change DefaultCharSet to Greek:

    DefaultCharSet=Greek

    (The DefaultHWStyle setting has no effect.)

  7. Save and close the file.

  8. If FORMS’ Interpret module is open, close and restart it. If Interpret while scanning is selected for any field definitions, the same applies to the Scan module.

FORMS now interprets only characters in the Greek character set. Even form definitions with other languages or handwriting styles specified in the Form definition settings dialog are interpreted according to Greek settings.

Note

Interpretation of Greek characters is performed by classifiers that ReadSoft obtained from a third party and added to FORMS. As of the date of this help file, only interpretation of handwritten uppercase letters has been tested. Although we are confident of the quality of this third-party product, ReadSoft has not yet tested:

Before interpreting Greek characters in a production environment, contact ReadSoft Support for the latest information, or do some testing.
