Verification: Work area

Form pane

Text fields

Text fields are used to display the recognition result or, if applicable, the edited value of the field.

(In the work area for forms this control is called TextBox.)

FixForm mode

In FixForm mode, invalid (rejected) characters or proposal characters are highlighted in the text field in red color.

If you move the cursor in the text field, the current character is highlighted in the detailed image viewer according to its confidence.

The system automatically navigates to incorrect characters. To confirm suggested characters, press Enter. The confirmed characters become black. Then the system navigates to the next invalid character. Rejected characters cannot be confirmed. Instead, the correct character must be typed.

Tip: For text fields you can enable spell checking.

Check-box fields

Check-box fields are used to edit OMR zones.

(In the work area for forms this control is called CheckBox.)

Tables

Tables are used to capture recurring data structures.

To leave the table, use the Tab key. To navigate within the table, use the Alt key together with the arrow keys:

  • Alt + ç: Move one cell to the left.

  • Alt + è: Move one cell to the right.

  • Alt + é: Move one cell up.

  • Alt + ê: Move one cell down.

Note: The FixForm Mode is not available with tables.

Image viewers

Image viewers are used to display the image of the document currently being processed.

View type:

The view displayed for users is specified when configuring the Viewer control in the work area for forms.

  • In standard view, the image is displayed with the preset zoom factor. If a field is active, for which a recognition result is available, the recognition result area is highlighted in yellow on the image.
  • Next page (standard) is the same as standard view, except that it includes a preview of the next page. In this view type, you can display the next page in either full or detail mode using a viewer control. When you reach the last page of a document, "End of document" is displayed in the Next page viewer.
  • In detailed view, usually only an enlarged part of the image is displayed. Within this part, the recognition result is also highlighted in yellow. In FixForm mode, the individual characters are highlighted in colors that indicate their confidence level:
    • Red: The character is rejected.

    • Yellow: The character is a suggestion.

    • Green: The character is OK.

In detailed view, the image is always aligned in a way that the OCR result is visible.

Editing modes

  • Panning: In this mode, the image can be panned by dragging with the mouse in the image viewer.

  • Zooming: Zoom in by holding the Ctrl key and left-clicking the image. Zoom out by holding the Ctrl key and right-clicking the image. (For more information see Zooming and scrolling in Verification.)

  • Rubberbanding: All recognition results are stored in the image viewer.

Hold down the Shift key and click a word in the image to save the extracted data to the selected field.

Or use Shift, click and drag to outline an area and apply the value contained in it. See Using rubberbanding for more information.

More tips

  • By default, the most recent scroll position for each viewer, document type, and process step are saved in your user settings, and new images are displayed in that position when first displayed. To disable this feature, open the Settings dialog and select Reset scroll position if the document changes.

    Note the following:

    • Best fit is the default zoom level unless something else is defined in the form definition.
    • If you change the zoom level, you can click Keep zoom factor in the toolbar to use the same zoom factor in the entire Document Verifier. Disabling the option again returns the zoom level to either best fit or what is defined in the form definition.
  • You can press Ctrl+Alt and click in an image. If data was collected from that part of the image, it is highlighted in yellow and focus shifts to the corresponding part of the input form.

In-place editors

In-place editors are used to handle the complete editing of the document. They are inserted at a fixed position in the input form. During editing, the keyboard input focus remains in the in-place editor; it does not move across the input controls.

In-place editors display the data of the active field. Changes are applied in the in-place editors as well as in the input controls of the field. The input field whose field is currently displayed in the in-place editor is highlighted on the input form in yellow.

(In the work area for forms this control is called InplaceEditor.)

Check-box fields

If the active field is a check box:

  • A space is displayed if the check box is not selected.

  • An X is displayed if the check box is selected.

To select the check box, type X. To deselect the check box, press the Spacebar key.

Note: In-place editors do not work with tables. They also cannot be used with panels containing tabs.

Message displays

Message displays are used to show validation and error messages during the verifying process. Messages are also displayed in the status line at the bottom of the screen to the left.

Combo boxes

Combo boxes are used to select data from a list.

If the list does not consist of fixed values, it is renewed after validation. If the data source uses a field as a restricting criterion, the value list changes according to the value of the field.

(In the work area for forms this control is called ComboBox.)

Option sets

Option sets are used to select data from a given value list.

(In the work area for forms this control is called RadioGroup.)

Documents pane

In the Documents pane, all documents in a root document are displayed hierarchically. The symbol next to the document indicates the validation status of the document:

– Validation status is set to Valid.

 – Validation status is set to Invalid.

 – Validation status is set to Unknown.

 – Validation status is forced to Valid.

 – The document is canceled. (More information about canceling documents.)

 – The document media are deleted.
