Creating a template based on an existing process

This topic describes one way of using templates while configuring processes.

Use the below procedure to create a template based on an existing process.

The process does not need to contain any process steps. That means you can use this procedure as a way to copy rights, process design comments, or other items between processes.

Tip: Document types can be saved as separate templates. You can also create a template from a subset of process steps.

To create a template based on an existing process

  1. Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Process Designer.

  2. Under Process Navigation, right-click a process and select Create template. The Template Wizard dialog is displayed.

  3. Type a name for the template.

  4. Optional: Type a description to help you remember details. The description is displayed when you point to a template with the cursor.

Tip: To edit a description, right-click a template and select Change description.

  5. Select a group to save the template in.

Tip: You can create new groups and move templates between them afterward.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Click Finish.

Templates are displayed in the right pane on the Templates tab.

Tip: To find out which process was used to create the template, right-click a template and select Preview. In the title of the dialog, the name of the original process is shown in parentheses.
