About Kofax PDF tabs in integrated applications
Kofax Power PDF offers its core features in several Microsoft Office and Browser applications.
Overview of toolbar buttons in integrated applications
To use a PDF toolbar in other applications, Kofax Power PDF should be integrated in these applications. You can enable or disable the integration during a Custom Setup.
If you do not see these buttons in the tab of an integrated application, see Troubleshooting.

Kofax PDF tab options in Microsoft Office
The Kofax PDF tab offers tools for PDF creation and unlocking (conversion). The three Create buttons correspond to the Kofax PDF menu items.
In Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, there is no Convert Settings tool, since these programs accept Standard document processing only.
The Kofax PDF tab in Microsoft Outlook includes the following tools.

About Create buttons
Create a PDF file from the currently opened document, web page or mail attachments.
Create and save a PDF from any source except a mail system and attach a
copy to a new email message ready for sending.
Define optional settings:

In Word, open the Kofax PDF Settings for Word dialog box where you can define how bookmarks, links, comments and tags are transferred to the PDF. Under Advanced Settings, you can access the Kofax PDF Create Properties dialog box.

In Excel, display the Kofax PDF Settings for Excel dialog box where you can define how bookmarks, links and comments are transferred to the PDF. Also specify the addressing mode for the link target document. Under Advanced Settings, you can access the Kofax PDF Create Properties dialog box.

In PowerPoint, display the Kofax PDF Settings for PowerPoint dialog box where you can define how bookmarks, links and comments are transferred to the PDF. Also specify the addressing mode for the link target document. Under Advanced Settings, you can access the Kofax PDF Create Properties dialog box.
About Convert buttons
Use the
Open PDF/XPS tool to select a single PDF or XPS file to be converted and opened in the current
application, ready for editing.
Access conversion settings to select a preferred conversion mode in Word (direct conversion as Standard, Form or
Legal, or use Convert Assistant). In Excel and PowerPoint there is no choice: the mode is always a direct conversion as Spreadsheet
and Standard Document, respectively.

To access the Power PDF Properties dialog box in Word, select , then the Kofax PDF printer driver and click the Properties button.

In Excel, to create a PDF file from the whole workbook, enable the toggle Create PDF from Entire Workbook in the Kofax PDF menu.
Power PDF Internet browser extension
Kofax Power PDF offers the following commands in the Kofax PDF Create extension in supported Internet browsers.
In Internet Explorer, click the right arrow next to the
PDF Create icon (). In other browsers, click the icon to open the drop-down menu.
This command is enabled only when viewing a PDF file in the browser. |

The Power PDF installer handles Internet Explorer integration. For other browsers, you need to install the Kofax PDF Create extension.
In Edge, the Open in Kofax Power PDF floating command panel appears automatically when viewing PDF files. To disable the panel, clear the Show "Open in Kofax Power PDF" setting in the extension menu.
In Internet Explorer, you can right-click a link to a PDF or XPS file and select Open with Convert Assistant from the shortcut menu to convert it to an editable format. The menu item is available for all browser links, but functions only when it points to a PDF or XPS file.
