Primary media format

The format to display the media in.

Note: When displaying PDF, this format is converted to an image and displayed as such.

Secondary media format

Optional: A default additional medium format for Verification. You can switch between these formats in Verification.

Image manipulation allowed (rescan, rotate)

Allows users to rescan, rotate, and save images.

If image manipulation is not allowed, the images themselves always remain unchanged.

Note: Even if image manipulation is not allowed, the display can be rotated by the user. The rotation angle is then saved as a page property, so that the image can be displayed properly in XBOUND. Exception: If image manipulation is allowed, information about rotation of PDF documents in Verification is lost. Details:

Allow Mobile Rescan

Enables rescanning an image using a mobile device.

Printing allowed

Enables users to print documents during verification.

Show thumbnails in document tree

Displays thumbnails in the document tree. Thumbnails will be generated on the fly or used from a previous activity. Specify the thumbnail size.

Read result for rubber band

The source for a full-text result, which is used for the rubberbanding function.

Non-printable characters

How to handle characters that cannot be displayed in the extraction results. These characters can be either replaced with a question mark or deleted from the extraction results.

Show rejects as question marks

Displays rejected characters as question marks.

Validate root document on start

Select this if the root document has not yet been validated against the business rule groups that are assigned for the process step. (See Assigning business rule groups to process steps.) This is used to identify invalid documents.

Note: For performance reasons it is better to validate documents in a Business Logic process step that is placed just before the Verification step.

Allow users to deactivate document-level validation

Allows users to disable or ignore document validation, even if the document is not yet valid.

This setting affects both Deactivate document validation and Deactivate root document validation. See Confirming a document.

Allow users to cancel documents and media

Allows users to exclude a document or page from further processing (for example, if it was scanned by mistake). See Canceling a document or Canceling a page.

Validate fields when edited (instead of waiting for confirmation)

Determines when changes to fields are validated:

• When selected, validation generally starts as soon as you change a field value (typical Windows behavior). Details:

  • Text boxes: Validation occurs when text entry is confirmed by pressing Enter. (Same as when the option is not selected.)

  • Checkboxes: Validation occurs as soon as a check box is checked or unchecked.

  • Radio button groups: Validation occurs as soon as a different radio button is selected.

  • Drop-down lists:

    • Validation occurs as soon as you use the mouse to select a different item in the list.

    • Validation occurs as soon as you use arrow keys to select a different item in the list and then press Enter. (Same as when the option is not selected.)

    • If you use the keyboard to enter a value in the edit box, validation does not occur until Enter is pressed (same as text boxes).

• Otherwise, validation always starts after you press Enter.

Important: This setting also affects the execution of business rules associated with the field, as well as conditions that affect the appearance of forms at runtime.

Show field name at beginning of validation message

Displays the name of the current field before the validation message.

Put focus on first invalid field in tab order

Focuses on the first invalid field based on tab order. If you deselect this option, the first invalid field based on validation sequence is focused on (this is default).

Block user input during validation

All input by Verification users is ignored while validation is in progress.

Select this option when validation is slow due to low network capacity or other problems. Some users become impatient and press Enter repeatedly. By doing so, they unintentionally confirm subsequent fields. You can avoid that problem by selecting this option.

Note: This option applies to every validation, not just when switching to the next document.

Restructuring allowed

Allows documents to be moved, inserted, split, and merged. (See Restructuring documents.)

Show message box at end of batch

Displays a message dialog at the end of the batch.

Use Knowledge Processing

Enables Verification to learn fixed field values and positions using Knowledge Processing.

Save after each document

Select this option when processing very large root documents.

Use process-level spell-check options

Uses spell-check options that you previously saved (see instructions).

An alternative is to enable spell checking during Verification.
