The Transfer job options dialog

Use this dialog to set up the transfer process to suit the particular task.

To access the dialog, click Options in the Transfer job description settings. The below settings are available.

Tip: There are related settings on the Export tab of the Job description dialog.

Record size

Variable

Each record has its own length when FORMS transfers it, depending on the amount of data obtained from the material.

Fixed size

FORMS pads the records with spaces to the size you specify, regardless of the layout of the transaction description associated with the individual forms included in the job description. If you specify zero (0), FORMS sets the size automatically to the size of the largest record in each transaction.

See Setting the record size.

ASCII type

ANSI

Sets the ASCII type to Windows characters.

PC

Sets the ASCII type to DOS characters.

Control records

Start, Stop

Optional: Specify start and stop transactions.

Image conversion

Exported images

Converts image files created by FORMS.

See Converting image files at transfer.

Imported images

Converts image files imported to FORMS (even if those files were originally created by FORMS, saved with the Store forms to files without identification option, and then imported).

See Converting image files at transfer.

Appendices

Converts images of appendices, as well.

Conversion options

Front & back in same file

If you used duplex scanning or imported image files that conform to the FORMS naming convention (with the file name of the front page ending with an even number, and the back page ending with that even number + 1), this option converts both the front and back pages and saves them to a file with the same name as the original front page.

If you do not select this option, the front and back pages are still converted, but they are saved in different files.

One set per file

Saves all forms and/or appendices belonging to a set or batch in the same multi-image file. Without this setting, each form or appendix is saved to its own file.

Tip: You can adjust the target directory in on the Export tab of the Job description dialog.

One batch per file

Keep original file

Keeps the original image file in addition to the converted file.

Reduce file size

Reduces file size by using JPEG compression when saving color and grayscale images. This works on any of the supported file types.

File extension

The file extension of the new image files. Use one of these extensions:

  • PDF – exports files with PDF format.

  • TIF – exports files with TIFF format. Important: You must type "TIF", not "TIFF".

  • MDA – exports files with MO:DCA format.

Generate SPSS syntax command file

Generates an SPSS syntax command file.

Delete transferred forms

Deletes forms and sets from the form database after transfer.

Wait for more forms

Transfer waits for more forms from Verify instead of stopping when there are no more forms to transfer. (More info.)
