Features
The Unified Client for HP supports the following features:
- ControlSuite
- Unified Client for HP is integrated through ControlSuite. This client supports a
single Kofax application in one of the following configurations:
- AutoStore and Equitrac
- AutoStore and Output Manager
- Equitrac only
- Output Manager only
- AutoStore only
- Authentication
- Requires users to enter valid authentication information to unlock the HP device functions. Users can enter their authentication data via the device panel, or by using a valid authentication card (when authentication cards are implemented).
- By default, users must authenticate before using the device. If authorization is set to guest or is controlled by the administrator, then users can access device functions before logging into Kofax.
- Authorization
- The Unified Client for HP offers different levels of authorization, which control how users access the applications on the device. You can set authorization to administrator, user, or guest profiles. Kofax authorization can be disabled, and the administrator can use the HP EWS page or other third-party tool to configure authorization to a device. If Kofax authorization is disabled, the administrator must lock the Unified Client for HP to user access and set Kofax as the authentication application.
- Print-to-Me
- After logging in at the HP device, users can access the virtual print queue to "pull" a print job to this device. Through the Print-to-Me screen on the HP device, users can see a list of documents in the queue, then select, delete, or release documents for printing. On scan only devices, the Print-to-Me workflow is hidden.
- Authentication with Common Access Cards (CAC)
- For US Government accounts, the Unified Client for HP can use CAC for authentication instead of the ControlSuite authentication model.
- Card self-registration
- Allows users to associate an unassigned card with their user credentials. Once associated, each time the user swipes the card, the system automatically recognizes the card and associated user.
- Billing code support
- When using the ControlSuite authentication module, the Unified Client for HP can be configured to pop-up a billing code screen for print and copy transactions and this billing code is applied to the transaction for billing purposes.
- Support for multiple DWS servers
- You can designate up to four different DWS servers for failover purposes: one primary and up to three backup servers. These backup servers allow users to continue working with the associated HP device until the primary DWS server is online again.
- Support for multiple DCE servers
- You can designate up to four different DCE servers: one primary and up to three backup servers. We recommend that the primary DCE is located on-site to allow for the fastest possible data transfer. Other DCE servers can be located off-site.
- Card readers
- The Unified Client for HP supports Kofax card readers, HP card readers, and third-party card readers. Card readers are configured through DRS.
- Capture
- On print only devices, an AutoStore only installation cannot be completed as there is no scanner attached.
