Install the RF IDeas Ethernet 241 Card Reader
This procedure provides the basic steps for connecting an RF IDeas Ethernet 241 Card Reader to a printer.
- Connect the Ethernet cable from the network to the RF Ideas Ethernet 241 Card Reader network port.
- Connect the Ethernet cable from the printer to the RF Ideas Ethernet 241 Card Reader device port.
- Connect the power cube to the power connector on the RF Ideas Ethernet 241 Card Reader.
- The card reader obtains an IP address using DHCP from the network. If your network is using DHCP, refer to the RF Ideas Ethernet 241 Card Reader documentation to configure a static address.
- Run the Discovery Tool by clicking 241DiscoveryTool.exe to find all the RF IDeas readers on your local network.
- Once the card reader is discovered, open the web page on the device.
- Select the Server tab on the web page.

Type the
Data Server Port to be used.
The recommended port number is 80. If IIS is on the same server, please configure a different port.
- In the Data Server Url field, type the IP address for the Output Manager server.
- Type the following string in the Data Server Str field: /Default.aspx?csn=$1&bits=$a&mac=$2&luid=$3&seq=$4&ip=$5&devmac=$6&devip=$7&rdr=$8
- Select Update to initialize the device with these parameters.
Use this application on the same local network where the devices are located. If you know the IP address of the device
but the device isn’t on the local network, you can connect to the IP address using a web browser. For more details, refer to the RF

Make sure the Output Manager server's RFIDeas241Reader Client web server is set to the port used in this server
configuration.
