Setting the Counter

Use the Counter settings to set a starting number and other preferences for the automatic page counter used for imprinting or annotation.

  1. On the Scan Settings tab, in the Imprinting & Annotation group, click Counter.

    A list of Counter settings appears.

  2. Start: Type a starting number for your automatic imprinter or annotation page counter. You must type a number greater than 0. This number is used to start the first batch.
  3. Step: Enter a value to determine how the automatic imprinter or annotation counter is incremented on every page. Typically, the counter settings are based on the documents being scanned, how the batches are organized, or other requirements.
  4. Digits: Enter the number of digits for the automatic imprinter or annotation counter. You can enter up to the maximum number of digits supported by your scanner.

    The number of digits you select determines the maximum value for the counter. For example, if you specify 3 digits, the maximum value for your counter is 999. If you specify 6 digits, the maximum value is 999,999.
