Use markup tools
Use the Select tool at the top of the Panel bar to first select text for commands needing a selection.
The Text Markup Tool is available in the Comment ribbon drop-down list only. Other tools can also be accessed from the shortcut menu on the text selection.
Suggest text changes with the Text Markup Tool
- Click the Active Markup tool in the Comment ribbon, then select Text Markup Tool in the drop-down list.
- To cross out text, select it and press Delete or select the Cross-out command from the drop-down list.

To add text, place the cursor at the desired location and enter the new
text.

- To replace text, select the text to be removed and enter the replacement text into the Replacement Text box.
Insert a text
To insert text at the cursor with its own tool

Click the Select tool at the top of the Panel bar.
- Click where you want to insert text on the PDF page.

Start to type. (You may select Insert Text at Cursor from
the Active Markup drop-down menu or from the shortcut menu,
but this is not necessary.)
A pop-up Inserted Text window appears with the text just typed.
- Enter the text you want to insert in the Inserted Text window.
Replace the selected text

Click the Select tool at the top of the Panel bar.
- Select the text you want to replace.

Select Replace Selected Text from the Active
Markup drop-down menu or from the shortcut menu.
The cursor changes and a pop-up Replacement Text window appears.
- Enter the proposed replacement text in the Replacement Text window.
Add a note to the selected text

Click the Select tool at the top of the Panel bar.
- Select the text you want to add a note to.

Select Add Note to Selected Text from the
Active Markup drop-down menu or from the shortcut
menu.
The text gets highlighted and a pop-up Comment on Text window appears.
- Enter the text in the Comment on Text window. If the comment text window is not shown by default, just double-click the markup area and it will pop up.
Highlight, underline, or cross-out selected text

Click the Select tool at the top of the Panel bar.
- Select the text you want to mark.
- Select the desired markup tool from the Active Markup drop-down menu or from the shortcut menu.
Mark up searched strings
An efficient way to mark up certain words or phases in a longer document is to do this by searching
You receive a list of occurrences; click an entry to view its location on the page. Select which of them to mark and which marking to use: Highlight, Cross-out or Underline. Only one marking type can be chosen at a time; to apply a different marking to some occurrences, perform a new search.

Select the Search and Markup tool at .
The Search dialog appears.
- Select the search scope in the Look in list.
- Select a search method option under Search for.
- Enter search text(s), phrase or pattern.

Click Search and Markup.
The search results show up in a structured list.
- Select the preferred markup type (Highlight, Cross-out or Underline) in the Markup Type list.

Browse the results and select the desired items, or click Select
All to include all results in the markup operation.
The Markup Selected button turns enabled.
- Click Markup Selected.
