Unlock, accept, and publish objects
KCM Designer features a lifecycle management system. When an object is edited, it can be processed through various phases before it is used in the production. The lifecycle includes the following phases:
- In development: the object is being edited; the changes are only visible to the editing user.
- Draft: the changes have just been made; the changes are visible to other users for review, test, and acceptance.
- Accepted: the edited object is correct and ready to be published.
- Published: the object is used in the production.
The lifecycle consists of unlocking, accepting, and then publishing the object.
To unlock:
- When you finished editing the object, click it and then click Unlock in the Publication Workflow pane on the right.
- Enter a description of the changes and click
OK.
The object is now in the Draft phase.
To accept:
- When you finished testing and reviewing the object, click it and then click Accept in the Publication Workflow pane on the right.
- Click Yes to promote the object to the Accepted phase.
To publish:
- When the object is to be used in the production, click it and then click Publish in the Publication Workflow pane on the right.
- Click Yes to promote the object to the Published phase.

Unlock, accept, or publish all objects at once
In KCM Designer, you can unlock, accept, or publish all objects belonging to a project at once.
- Click the project you are working on and then click Unlock, Accept, or Publish in the Publication Workflow pane on the right.
- Click OK or Yes when prompted to proceed.
