Capture panes

The following panes are available in the Capture module workspace:

  • Batch viewer pane in the upper-middle segment

  • Capture image pane on the right side

  • Index field pane in the lower-middle segment

  • Upper file browser pane in the upper-left segment (if visible)

  • Lower file browser pane in the lower-left segment (if visible)

Batch viewer pane

Displays the current progress of the batch being captured/imported. The current workflow type and capture profile appear at the top of the pane, along with several toolbars.

Capture image pane (viewer pane)

Displays the current image being captured or the image for the currently selected page when done capturing. The toolbar at the top of the pane contains the same tools as the Viewer menu.

Index field pane

The Index field pane in the Capture module is used to enter index data for the folders and documents in the current batch. It consists of a list of the index data fields defined for the current capture profile and text boxes for entering values for those fields. The values in the fields pertain to the currently selected document/folder in the batch.

Press Tab to navigate to the next index field. Press Enter to perform the function assigned to the index field (for example, lookup). On the last index field of a document, pressing Tab or Enter automatically moves the cursor to the first index field of the next document. You can jump to any document in the batch by selecting it on the batch tree.

Upper file browser pane (import only)

Only available while performing import capture. As in Windows File Explorer, you can browse all local and network folders here. You can also specify in a menu how PSIcapture imports the contents of a folder.

Toolbar element Description
Selection list

Determines what type of selection you can make in the pane.

  • Selection by Files

You must select the files within the selected folder that you would like to import.

  • Selection by Directory

PSIcapture automatically imports all supported files in the selected folder.

Contents of any subfolders are also imported if the Include Subfolders box is selected (default). Only the files with the extension specified in the filter at the bottom of the file browser are imported. For example, if the directory contains PDF and TIFF files and the filter specifies TIFF images, only the TIFF files are imported.

Include Subfolders box

Select this box when using Selection by Directory in the selection list. All folders below the selected folder are scanned for images to import.

Refresh icon

Refreshes the contents of the file browser.

Lower file browser pane (import only)

Only available while performing import capture.

Displays the contents of the current folder. The contents of the selected folder can be filtered with the list at the bottom of the pane.

Use this pane to select which files to import. The keyboard shortcuts of Windows File Explorer can also be used to select specific files.
