Profile Tool
The Profile Tool allows you to manage connector, service profile information, watchers and Data Publishing maps between ShareScan Managers. You can export such information from a Manager, then start up another Manager, and import this information.
To access the tool, go to Administration Console > Advanced tab > Tools > Profile Tool.
- Grant access for the user who runs the ShareScan Admin Console to the ShareScan
database (typically eCopyShareScan) by given the same database permission as the
ShareScan Agent windows service user has.
or
- Make sure the eCopy database user installed by ShareScan (or an equivalent)
exists on the SQL server. (Even if you want to disable the SQL Server
authentication access, do not delete the eCopy user, but simply disable it,
and re-enable it when you want to perform import / export via this
feature.)
Install ShareScan to a computer other than the production servers with the default database access credentials (eCopy user).
Do not modify the settings (connection string and service accounts) on this computer. With these, this dedicated computer can connect to the database and perform the profile import and export to the database.
To perform an export, do as follows:
- Start the Administration Console.
- Start the Profile Tool.
- Remain on the Export pane.
- Use the dropdown icons to browse to the connector, service, watcher or Data Publishing map, whose information you want to export.
- Right-click on the item of your selection.
- Select the export option (as appropriate).
- Browse to the location where you want to save the file. The generated file automatically has the .profile extension. Exported watchers show the .we extension, exported Data Publishing maps have the extension: .dme.
To perform an import, do as follows:
- Start the Administration Console.
- Start the Profile Tool.
- Switch to the Import pane.
- Click the Browse button to locate the profile file you want to import.
- Double-click the file to start the import process.
