Document conversion tab
Use this tab to configure the parameters that determine the tools to use for document conversion.
Third-party conversion tools must be installed on the same computer as Message Connector. Customers must provide any licenses required for third-party software. The default internal conversion tool, KFXConverter, does not require additional installation or licenses.
Unpack archives: Select to enable decompression of compressed documents, such as zip, rar, 7z, tar, and gzip.
Ignored folders in archives: Specify a list of folder names, which are part of a compressed file, that you do not want to import into Kofax App. All folder names must be separated by a comma. You can use wildcards in the beginning, at the end, or anywhere in the folder name. For example: __MACOSX, hex, *hex, h*ex.
Handle body of nested emails as: Specify whether to handle the body part of a nested (attached) email as body or attachment.
Inline image size limit in bytes: Any inline images larger than the specified value are treated as separate attachments. Set to 0 to never treat inline images as attachments.
For input EML/MSG files having inline images(such as logo), set the value of this field to a minimum (non-zero) value so that inline images are treated as separate attachments.
Inline page count limit: Specify the page count limit of the email body (inline). An email with page count more than the specified limit is treated as corrupt and document conversion is not performed. Set to 0 to never treat the email as corrupt.
MS Office and selected Open Office documents: Select the tool to use for converting Microsoft Office, plain text, and Open Office (ODT, ODS, ODG, and ODP only) documents to PDF. If disabled, no conversion is performed for Microsoft Office, plain text, and Open Office documents.
Conversion of the ODG file having tables may result in data loss.
MHTML and HTML documents: Select the tool to use for converting MHTML and HTML documents to PDF.
Email body and header: Select the tool to use for converting email and message header to PDF body. The default tool is KFXConverter.
Image to PDF: Select the ImageMagick version for the image to pdf conversion. If using a 64-bit operating system, you can select ImageMagick-32Bit or ImageMagick-64Bit. (Default: ImageMagick-32Bit)
PDF to PDF/A conversion engine: Select PDF to PDF/A conversion engine for normalizing PDF documents to PDF/A. If there is a conversion error with the Legacy (Limited support) option, use the Standard option for document conversion. The default is Standard.
MS Office user: Select a Windows user account for Microsoft Office DCOM automation (necessary for document conversion via Microsoft Office). Only required on Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, or later operating systems.
-
Interactive user: The user must be logged on to the computer where Message Connector is installed. During document conversion, the Office windows can be seen opening and closing. This mode is useful for advanced troubleshooting.
-
Current configuration: The Office applications start with the user account which is specified in the DCOM Config tool.
-
This user: Allows you to type a name and password directly.
Name: Type a Microsoft Office DCOM user name; for productive mode with no one logged in, it is necessary to specify an administrator user.
Password: Type a Microsoft Office DCOM user password.
Custom extension list: Type a blank-separated list of extensions for file types that can be converted by a customizable script (CustomToPdf.bat) to PDF.
- Document conversion can be completely disabled in the Security options tab.
- Each conversion tool produces the desired output in a different way. As a result, if you switch to another conversion tool, your converted documents may look little different.
