Open, edit, and save Word-based objects in Microsoft Word
KCM Designer enables you to automatically open a Word-based object for viewing or editing directly in Microsoft Word, without having to manually lock, download, and then upload the file. For example, this applies to Rich Text Blocks, Master Templates, and other objects. After you edit the object and save it in Microsoft Word, the file is automatically uploaded back to KCM Designer, and its content gets updated in the content management system.
Prerequisites
Availability of editing in Microsoft Word depends on the Contract Manager. Make sure your Contract Manager is set up properly, as shown in the Kofax Communications Manager Getting Started Guide.
To view or edit documents, you need to be an authorized user with a KCM role that has at least Edit permissions, such as Author.
In addition to direct editing and view capabilities, KCM supports downloading and uploading of documents to view or edit locally. This is supported for Word 2013 or later.
