Deskew Edges

Automatically straightens images that are skewed by detecting the image edges.

Deskew Content

Automatically straightens images that are skewed by detecting the image content.

Auto Crop

Crops an image to the actual paper size scanned, rather than the paper size selection. Available only if Deskew is selected.

Edge Cleanup

Trims the border of an image. Available only if Auto Crop is selected.

Edge Fill

Hole Punch Removal

Fills punch hole marks with the background color of the area surrounding the marks. This is useful for images that represent pages containing hole punch marks or other hole marks near the edge of the page.

This feature works best with black background scanners.

Auto Rotate

Automatically rotates images that are scanned in a non-standard (such as upside-down) orientation. Effective for images that contain text.

VRS General - Manual Corrections Group

Rotates image 90 degrees to the left.

Rotates image 90 degrees to the right.

Rotates image 180 degrees.

Enters manual crop mode to remove unwanted elements from an image. Available only in single image view. Minimum cropping region size is 16x16 pixels.

VRS General - Clarity Group

Adjusts the amount of "light" on an image.

Adjusts the amount of difference between the lightest and darkest areas on an image.

Adjusts the conversion of light intensity into pixels; typically, you do not need to adjust the Gamma value.

Automatically assigns an optimal value for brightness. Available only for black and white or grayscale images.

Applies special processing to challenging documents. Use the slider to set the level of special processing to apply to the image background. Available only for black and white or grayscale images.

Analyze Color

For pages with color background or text, produces optimal black and white images by including color content variations in the page evaluation. Otherwise, only grayscale variations are evaluated. Available only if Advanced Clarity is active.

Ignore Pictures

Ignores pictures or photos when evaluating the page content. As a result, the clarity improvements are applied to other (non-picture) content on the page. Available only if Advanced Clarity is active.

VRS General - B & W Filters Group

Line Filter

Sets the level of thinning or thickening to apply to image elements (lines and text) on black and white images. Use the line filter to enhance image quality and improve legibility.

Speckle Removal Filter

Sets the level of speckling to remove from black and white images.

Halftone

Improves the appearance of pictures on black and white images.

Smoothing

Converts color background to a single, smoothed color.

Smoothing Slider

Increases or decreases the level of smoothing applied to the image background.

Background Color to White

Converts background to white.

Reset Group

Original Settings

Restores all values on the VRS Corrections tab to the state that was in effect the last time you selected a profile or scanned a page, whichever is more recent.
