Add a Text Block
The following procedure shows how to include a Text Block or a Rich Text Block in a Content Wizard.
-
In the document structure, select the item to add a Text Block to.
Text Blocks can be added to the root of a Content Wizard, a Section, a Text Block Selection group, or a Data Backbone item.
- On the toolbar, click .
-
Select a Text Block from the drop-down list. The Text Block must already exist. Click
Select to confirm your selection.
A new window opens, and the new item appears in the structure of the Content Wizard. You can adjust the position of the Text Block by clicking the arrows located on the toolbar.
A preview of the selected Text Block or Rich Text Block is shown. Click
to pop out the preview window.
The preview functionality is designed to give a general idea of the resulting Text Block or Rich Text Block. To see what the result is going to look like, you can test the object. Also, as the preview functionality is based on the supported browser or plugin in use, the way the previewed content is shown may vary. -
Under
Behavior, you can adjust various properties of a Text Block, such as make it optional or mandatory
and editable or non-editable.
- Editable means that the user can edit the text of the document being created. This can be useful to add some personal touch to the document. For example, employees of your organization can specify in letters whether they have been in contact with the customer by phone or by email, so that the letter becomes more personal. The Text Block is non-editable by default.
-
Optional means that a Text Block contains predefined text that you can include in your
document if needed. This can be useful to add some extra information in your letter to the customer. For example, to add
information on the annual holiday closing of your organization, you can make a Text Block it optional and use only when you need
it.
- Under Display, specify the question to display next to this check box that enables a user to include or exclude the Text Block.
- Default Selected means that this Text Block will be included in the document by default, but the user can exclude it (uncheck it) as it is optional.
-
Under
Show/Hide, you can select to make the Text Block conditional so it only appears when you need it
in your document. To do so, select
Text Block is not always included.
A new empty field appears.
- Click Add to add a new condition, select a Field that relates to the Text Block in question, and then click Select.
- In the empty space to the right from the value drop-down list, enter text associated with the selected Field. For example, if you enter Y, the Text Block will be included in the Content Wizard when this Field is equal to the value Y (for yes). You can apply as many conditions as necessary.
- Click
Save in the upper right corner.
The condition is applied to the Text Block.
- Under Advanced, select a Status Field to automatically store information on the user's choice in a resulting Data Backbone XML when composing the document.
- Click Save.
