Work with Corporate Design
In KCM, you can maintain layout definitions for a document separately from its content. Such a layout definition is called a Brand. Every Brand is represented as a folder and it is defined under the Corporate Design folder. Also, a special folder called (No Brand) is used to store all Document Types that require no special branding, including the documents from converted projects.
A Brand defines the layout for all documents produced in its context. Within a Brand, you can define multiple Document Types: all documents of the same Document Type within a Brand have the same layout.
The Corporate Design folder contains objects that define the layout for Word and HTML output, and these objects are specific either for Word or HTML output. Refer to the following list of objects.
-
Word output: Word Page Style, Word Style Sheet
-
HTML output: HTML Page Template, HTML Style Sheet
Each level in the Corporate Design folder may include up to four items (one of each type):
-
Word Page Style: Defines the margins and the section properties in the document.
-
Word Style Sheet: Defines the text style properties in the document.
-
HTML Page Template: Controls HTML output format.
-
HTML Style Sheet: Contains CSS definitions for HTML output.
For more information about classes in HTML output, see the Available classes in HTML output section in the Kofax Communications Manager Template Scripting Language Developer's Guide.
On top level, there is also a fifth item: Text Block preview styling. This object affects the preview styling rather than the output styling. See the Define preview styling of Text Blocks topic for more information.
The Brand and the Document Type are defined by the Master Template at runtime using the DOCUMENTSTYLE script command. The layout is retrieved from the Corporate Design folder based on the output format, on the Brand, and on the Document Type. For more information, see the DOCUMENTSTYLE section in the Kofax Communications Manager Template Scripting Language Developer's Guide.
Default styling
After the project is created, the documents preloaded into the Corporate Design folder are always populated with the default content. The content within the documents can be edited, but the documents cannot be deleted.
