System

The following are the enhancements to system settings.

Menu options aligned with corresponding Access Control List

In earlier releases, if a user did not have settings permissions, they could still access certain items.

In TotalAgility 8.0.0, the system settings are grouped into three options to provide clarity on what access is being given to the user via the settings.

  • System settings (existing option)

  • Access settings

  • Additional settings

Unique resource password encryption security key

The resource passwords are now encrypted with a unique security key for each TotalAgility installation (by using the existing security key in System settings). Using the new Use security key for resource passwords system setting, you can configure this key so that on the next logon to TotalAgility Designer or TotalAgility Workspace, each resource is forced to change its password.

Workspace user session ID stored in session cookie instead of session storage

A new system setting, Store workspace session ID as cookie, lets you store an end user's session ID in a session cookie. It enables the session ID to be shared across multiple tabs in the TotalAgility Workspace.

Default set of permissions for creating and modifying Quick Apps

You can assign a default set of permissions to users and/or groups for modifying or creating any Quick Workflow, Quick RPA, and Quick Capture solution by using the new Solution access default settings. For more information, see Solution access default settings.

Take/Complete activity: Action bar

A new UX pattern is enabled for activities in system settings by introducing the Display in action bar system setting so that the primary actions such as Cancel, Save, Complete and Next, Complete, and Request Automation Rule appear on the action bar at runtime. It has the following benefits:

  • Users are more focused on the task, and no navigation menu shown. To discard a task, users must cancel it.

  • The buttons are top left, which means they are always in the same place regardless of the activity inputs/outputs.

  • Users do not have to scroll.

  • Buttons with color and icons convey meaning.

  • Request automation (if enabled) is available in the context menu.

For more information, see Activity forms.

Request automation on Activity forms

The new Allow request automation rule system setting controls whether the button to request automation should appear on an Activity form. This system setting controls the generic forms.

You can configure this setting when generating an Activity form for a process using the Include request automation rule button option. For information about this option, see Build an Activity form.

Optional minification type for forms

The new Minification type system setting controls whether the size of the file should be reduced for faster runtime (default) or kept for faster deployment.

Lock or unlock a deployment or job schedule

You can lock or unlock a deployment schedule from the list of schedules.

Ability to record system task history and configure system task thread pool size

In the Configuration utility in TotalAgility on-premise multi-tenant and Azure environments, the following new settings are added:

  • System Tasks History To Record to record system task history to diagnose performance issues on customer deployments.

  • System Task Thread Pool Size to configure the thread pool size of the System Task thread pool.

For more information, see "Configure the settings to record system tasks history" and "Configure the settings for system tasks thread pool size" in the Kofax TotalAgility On-Premise Multi-Tenant Installation Guide.
