OMR Zone Profile Settings window
You can use this window to modify the properties for OMR zone profiles and to optimize the recognition of optical mark fields.
- Result Texts
-
This group has the following settings:
- Unmarked
-
Type a value that is returned when an OMR zone is unmarked. (Default: 0)
- Marked
-
Type a value that is returned when an OMR zone is marked. (Default: 1)
- Unsure
-
Type a value that is returned when an OMR zone is unsure. (Default: ~)
Changing these result texts change them for all OMR zones. If you want to change these values, but only for a specific zone, use the Override Result Texts setting instead.
- Mode
-
This group enables you to select one of the following modes:
-
Automatic. (Default: Selected)
Choose this value to enable the recognition engine to use its default settings to recognize marked zones. When this value is selected, the Manual Mode group is disabled.
In Automatic mode, the OMR recognition profile only works with two or more grouped OMR zones and automatically calculates the minimum and maximum blackness and threshold for a number of OMR boxes by comparing the boxes to one another. For a single OMR zone, use the Manual Mode.
-
Manual.
Choose this value to override the default recognition settings. When this value is selected, the Automatic Mode group is disabled.
-
- Automatic Mode
-
This group is only available when the Automatic value is selected for Mode setting and has the following settings:
- Same size boxes
-
Enable this setting if all the boxes on your document are the same size. This setting is cleared by default. (Default: Selected)
- Number of zones
-
An OMR zone can behave as a select one field or a select many field. Choose the number of zones that can be selected from the following:
-
One checked zone.
V this value if there is only a single check box selected. For example, a gender or title selection, where only one list item is selected.
-
Many checked zones. (Default: Selected)
V this value if more than one check box can be selected. For example, areas of interest on an application form, where more than one list item is selected.
-
- Manual Mode
-
This group is only available when the Manual value is selected for the Mode setting.
For an unmarked field, it is expected that there is very little blackness in an OMR zone. You can increase or decrease these values to suit your needs. The "Blackness values for unmarked fields" can be configured using the following settings:
- Min. blackness
-
Use the slider or type in the minimum value, represented in percent, that represents an unmarked field. (Default: 0)
- Max. blackness
-
Use the slider or type in the maximum value, represented in percent, that represents an unmarked field. (Default: 15)
For a marked field, it is expected that some blackness is found in an OMR zone. You can increase or decrease these values to suit your needs. The "Blackness values for marked fields" can be configured using the following settings:
- Min. blackness
-
Use this slider to type in the minimum value that represents a marked field. (Default: 20)
- Max. blackness
-
Use this slider or type in the maximum value that represents a marked field. (Default: 40)
